How spiritual abuse is conducted by narcissistic "pastors": 

the true, the false and the subliminal ("in between the lines") messages craftily combined

Please, keep on educating yourselves on narcissistic abuse (in the "church"), abuse, trauma and Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD). The more you understand what you have been subjected to and what you are going through, the clearer things will become and YOU WILL GRADUALLY REMEMBER WHO YOU TRULY ARE. I would like to reinforce that the purpose of this blog is to offer victims of narcissistic abuse in the "church" resources that I wish I had back in the day, when I couldn't possibly imagine that I had been abused by a "church" and was suffering from multiple symptoms of CPTSD. I hope more and more people can be helped.

People who have never experienced narcissistic abuse in the "church" quite often have this disdainful attitude towards the victims, like "how could you have possibly fallen for that"? They cannot grasp the idea that the abuse has nothing to do with the victims' "foolishness", instead, it's all about how masters of manipulation the abusive "pastors" are. Over the past few years, I have noticed that the victims are usually Christians earnestly seeking the Lord Jesus Christ and trying hard to learn from the "pastors", believing that they would be the most qualified to point them to the "right direction", ironically, wanting to avoid error. That's a logical way of thinking, but, unfortunately, we have to look way beyond "titles", appearances, words and even actions. I am using the term "pastor" because it encompasses the idea of the one who is supposed to be 'taking care of the flock', but I'm referring to any Christian representative responsible for sharing the Scripture in any "denomination". Ultimately, abuse is abuse in any kind of "church".

It's important to emphasize that the abusive "pastors" 1) may exploit the victims' lack of thorough knowledge of the Scripture, BUT 2) they can also mislead even the "most experienced church goers" because of their craftiness in combining bits and pieces of the scripture, contaminated with their personal interests, rationalizations and/or emotions, which result in a continuum that range from different perceptions of biblical facts (ex. how "bad" or "good" was Jonah) to wrong teachings (ex. money as one of the key elements to "prove" someone's righteousness and faith before "god") to covert/passive-aggressive abuse and/or criminal behavior (ex. manipulating, shaming, slandering, bullying, stalking, harassing, coercing, intimidating, threatening and destroying lives in many possible ways).

Only in the aftermath, during the long and excruciating period of healing, those who survive the heinous abuses begin to understand how corrupted were the abusive "pastors'" words, attitude and behavior. There are different "levels" of abuse by narcissistic "pastors": 1) the covert/passive-aggressive abuse aiming at specific targets in more pungent ways through elaborated psychological, emotional and verbal manipulative tactics (please check What does narcissistic abuse in the "church" look like? Manipulative tactics) and 2) the ones that affect the whole "congregation", but it's not perceived on a conscious level by the members, and therefore go unnoticed - mixed teachings (the true and the false craftily combined) and subliminal messages (what is "in between the lines"). Naturally, some of the manipulative tactics we have already seen may be used to mislead the whole "congregation". In both cases, they serve the warped purposes of the narcissistic "pastors" and their corrupt "church".

In this post, I would like to focus on the narcissistic abuse that affects the whole "church" and frequently operates "under the radar" because of the true, the false and the subliminal messages craftily combined. Again, even though the circumstances may differ from the ones you have endured, please focus on the patterns that repeat in abusive "churches". Mixed and hidden messages can be easily absorbed by trusting Christians, who can be lured by calculated "bits and pieces of the scripture", flood of emotions, enticing "worship", body gestures, facial expressions, histrionic "testimonies", meticulously coordinated by the "captivating abusive pastors". That's right. It's definitely not so easy to spot narcissistic abusive "pastors" right away. 


PICTURE 1 (SCRIPT): "Sunday service"

"Pastor": All the glory belongs to god. Look at all the miracles in this "church". Look at all these people with incurable diseases who got healed! (Close up at 'before' and 'after' images on the screen). Praise god! ("Church" band starts playing a "cheerful" hymn and the "pastor" sings along). Look at that! (People are lining up to tell their "testimonies"; one by one, they tell their stories very emotionally, crying a lot, and loudly thanking god and the "pastor"). Look at all these people who had a lot of debts and all these bouncing checks (close up at dozens of bouncing checks glued on big carton boards), but because of my god, there are many testimonies of people receiving sums of money in their bank accounts so they could pay their debts! Praise god! I don't want to sound arrogant, god doesn't like pride and arrogance, neither do I, but I don't know any other "ministry" in the world which has as many miracles as this "church". Some of you pastors in this "church" think that you are better than others because there are many miracles in your services. Some of you pastors are even considering leaving this "church" and opening one of your own. I'll help you!  I'll even give you the chairs! (The tone of voice and facial expressions reveal that the abusive "pastor" is clearly annoyed). But it's funny how all the pastors who leave eventually come back, begging me to give them another chance (with a smirk). It's always like that! As for those who envy this "ministry" and are trying to oppose "god" by making false accusations against me and this "church", I want you to prove that I bought those properties! (As it turns out, it was later confirmed by the administration of the abusive "church" that the "pastor" had actually bought the referred properties). You'll feel the heavy hand of my "god" in your lives (yelling)!   (The "pastor" yells the following bible verses by heart) "He will guard the feet of his faithful servants, but the wicked will be silenced in the place of darkness. It is not by strength that one prevails; those who oppose the Lord will be broken"! First Samuel chapter 2 verses 8 and 9! (Passage is put on the screen. Crowd says "praise god" and applauds enthusiastically). 

(*The reporter who exposed him died sometime later and the "pastor" mocked his tragic ending attributing it to "god's work". Being criticized by the public opinion, he later claimed that it was "the devil's work").

“Pastor”: "Beware "enemies" (yelling)! Just like the family who had a prosperous bakery across the "church", they mocked me and doubted that I was a true prophet! So I cursed them! Later, they came to me begging for forgiveness, it turns out that their business was completely ruined. As you can see, no one can oppose my god! (Crowd applauds and screams "praise god"). You know the story of how I used to be persecuted, harassed and abused when I was in the other church!  But god has delivered me! (“Pastor” puts his hand on his eyes. Crowd applauds. Camera shows some people in the crowd with teary eyes).

“Pastor”: Here we preach the living god through the miracles. We don't need to speak Latin (sarcastic tone of voice). We preach the simple gospel during the services we offer mornings, afternoons and evenings in all of our "churches"! We don't need 'bible studies'! And we are not idolaters!  The bible clearly says that idolatry is wrong! Look around!  There are no images! (There is, however, a 40 feet tall poster of the abusive "pastor" and his wife hanging on the "church" wall, "humbly praying on their knees"). We preach the living god in action! Let's hear more testimonies: 

Woman (yelling): I was really desperate! There was no way I could possibly pay my debts! But because of the god of the "pastor", I paid them all! (The "church" band does not play anything.)

“Pastor": (The "pastor" flares up, glares and yells at the "church" band).  Are you sleeping? What the hell?! ("Church" band starts playing a hymn. The abusive "pastor" is still glaring at the "church" band).

Woman (yelling): I will kill anyone who dares to oppose your "ministry”, "pastor"! (Woman is crying and hugs the "pastor"). I have to confess that I used to be afraid of you, "pastor", but I love you! (Woman continues to cry and hugs the "pastor" again. "Church" band starts playing a hymn). 

“Pastor”: Who’s next?

Man (crying): Look at my state in the hospital, "pastor"! (Man shows a photograph). This is me on the verge of dying, but I knew that if  I prayed to the god of the "pastor", I would be healed! My family came here and participated in the last "campaign". (The last "church campaign" was entitled "Get the key to open the doors of heavens": for $300, members could buy small golden-colored keys made of scrap metal which were put in little plastic bags along with a small strip of paper with the Psalm 78:23-24: "Yet he gave a command to the skies above the doors of heavens; he rained down manna for the people to eat, he gave them the grain of heaven"). And here I am to glorify Jesus Christ! (Crowd applauds; close up at some people crying or with teary eyes in the crowd).

“Pastor" (suddenly raising the tone of voice at the cameraman): You fool! You missed the wife kissing the key of the last campaign! (The man’s wife is still crying and – perhaps feeling sorry for the cameraman - kisses the key again so that everybody can see it. The "pastor" is always checking the screens, which are strategically placed in different spots, always making sure the right "takes" are captured during the whole "service"). 

Man: (Now the cameraman focuses on the man's teary eyes). Nobody dares to say anything against you and your "church" in front of me, "pastor"! I will kill them! (Yelling and crying, then hugs the "pastor". "Church" band starts playing a hymn and the "pastor" and the man sing along). You know, "pastor", I used to be afraid of you, too! (Man and crowd laugh).

“Pastor" (looks at the camera as if he were puzzled; man and crowd are still laughing): I don’t understand why people say they are afraid of me! But now you are not afraid anymore, right?

Man (shouting): No "pastor", I love you! ("Pastor" smiles and hugs the man).

“Pastor" (raises tone of voice): Did you have to sell your house? Did you have to sell your belongings to participate in the "church" campaign?

Man: No, "pastor"...

“Pastor": You see, "church"! This is what my "enemies" are trying to destroy whenever they attack me and this "church", the work of god! (“Pastor" suddenly starts "crying" and puts one of his hands on his eyes. "Church" band plays a hymn with passages of Psalm 17; the "pastor" and the crowd sing out loud). 

"Pastor": How about you? If you want to receive such extraordinary miracles like them, no matter how impossible they may seem to you, participate in the new “campaign” of this "ministry" and get this $300 pair of "anointed" socks! Do you really have faith in god? Really? Or are you going to allow the devil to have access to you through "the spirit of greed"? (Abusive "pastor" glares at the audience and raises the tone of voice). Don't forget that god knows what you have in your hearts and greed is a detestable sin! It's time to put your faith into action! It says in James chapter 2 verse 17 "faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead". How can you truly call yourselves "christians" with a dead faith? Come on! Remember the extraordinary moving testimonies you saw today and take your leap of faith with your anointed pair of socks! If your faith is not that big, you can get it for $150 dollars, you don't have to leave the "church" without your pair of socks! The most important thing is for you to take part in this new "campaign": "I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses" (Joshua 1:3). Each pair of socks comes with a coupon where you can write your "requests to god". We'll collect all the requests and take it to the top of the mountain next Saturday morning. All the "pastors" will fast for 24hs prior to the climbing (video showing the last “campaign” where the "pastors" of the "church" were carrying heavy bags containing requests; the "close ups" are on the very tired faces of the "pastors", who look like they are suffering a lot, especially because they had been fasting). Now the "pastors" will pass around with their bibles opened on Joshua chapter 1 verse 3 on one hand and a bag in the other hand where you can place the money. I want to see your faith!

“Pastor”: By the way, some of you pastors are complaining about where you are sent to, it is god who defines where you go! You have to go where god tells you to! If you are not successful, it's just because of your lack of faith! 

(*There has been a lot of complaints among the pastors of the "church" about the places they are sent to - some of them very inhospitable, especially for those who have young children. They are also afflicted because they have to meet unrealistic financial goals every month. It’s like working in a bank or in a multinational company, except they wouldn’t open branches in isolated villages or rural areas with not much prospect of financial growth. Besides, in a company, those who move to other places do so out of free will and they get plenty of fringe benefits. The abusive "pastor's" conception of success seems to be translated through the amount of money the pastors gather in each area). 

“Pastor”: Now let us pray, dear "god", I pray for my enemies, deliver them from "the spirit of madness", "the spirit of envy", "the spirit of greed"....

(It is well known that some groups of “pastors” from the “church” have been involved in embezzlement and even gun trafficking; the curses from the abusive “pastor” always seem to come true; the "pastor" has plenty of church flying monkeys, enablers, financial and political power to "make curses happen” and the “pastor” always brags about the “tragic ending” of his “enemies” in public, because they “went against god and god’s interests”).

(It is well known that some groups of “pastors” from the “church” have been involved in embezzlement and even gun trafficking; the curses from the abusive “pastor” always seem to come true; the "pastor" has plenty of church flying monkeys, enablers, financial and political power to "make curses happen” and the “pastor” always brags about the “tragic ending” of his “enemies” in public, because they “went against god and god’s interests”).

①All the glory belongs to God. 
②By the mercy of God, there were miraculous healings even in the "service" of the abusive "church". 
③God doesn't approve pride and arrogance.
④Fasting is a form of humbling oneself before God. 


WHAT WAS FALSE

①God does not make deposits at the bank. 
It sounds obvious, but please focus on the "big picture" here. If there were actual miraculous healings - by the mercy of God -, so "god making money appear out of nowhere" may well end up being "plausible", particularly if people are desperate and just being carried away by the emotions of the "service". Notice that if "the god of their church" goes to the bank to make deposits for people with debts, it immediately creates a special lure, since anyone can win "god's lottery" and get "mysterious deposits" in their bank accounts, exclusive "feature" of the abusive "church". Once a person wins "god's lottery", it automatically binds him/her to the abusive "pastor/church", an unbreakable - and dangerous - sense of loyalty, which ultimately results in the increase of the church flying monkeys.  

②"Pastor" boasts quite a lot despite claiming that he doesn't like pride and arrogance.
Even though the "pastor" claims that "he doesn't want to sound arrogant" and "he doesn't like pride and arrogance", if we pay close attention, he simply can't stop boasting: 'look at all the miracles in this church'; 'I don't know any other ministry in the world which has as many miracles as this church'; 'as for those who envy this ministry and are trying to oppose god' and 'if you want to receive such extraordinary miracles like them (...) participate in the new campaign of this ministry'. 

➤ IF WE PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO NARCISSISTIC PASTORS' WORDS, BEHAVIOR AND ATTITUDE, THEY ARE CONSTANTLY BRAGGING ABOUT HOW "POWERFUL, SUCCESSFUL, UNIQUE AND ENTITLED" THEY BELIEVE THEY ARE/THEIR "CHURCH" IS. EVEN UNDER THE APPARENT "MASK OF HUMILITY". This is harder to recognize nowadays, because we live in a world in which pride and arrogance are seen as "positive attributes", part of a mentality in which "only the super duper have something to brag about". Needless to say, nothing can be more opposite to the Lord Jesus Christ Himself and His teachings. The abusive "church" is only concerned about quantity and appearances, not on the quality of the proclaimed "christians". This is not aligned with the Scripture and its purpose to shape the character of the believers and prepare them for the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. 

➥ ACTUAL CONSEQUENCES OF PROUD AND ARROGANT "PASTORS":

⓵ NARCISSISTIC "PASTORS" HAVE A DERANGED SENSE OF GRANDIOSE AND ENTITLEMENT:

1) PROUD "PASTORS" ARE INCAPABLE OF SELF-REFLECTION, AND THEREFORE, TRUE REPENTANCE FOLLOWED BY CHANGED BEHAVIOR, WHICH IS - BY THE WAY - ONE OF THE BASICS OF BEING A TRUE CHRISTIAN. ABUSIVE "PASTORS" ARE CONSTANTLY "POINTING FINGERS" AND NITPICKING WHILE HAVING A GIGANTIC TRUNK STUCK IN THEIR EYES.

2)ABUSIVE "PASTORS" ARE CONSUMED BY THEIR "TITLES" (EX. ANOINTED, CHOSEN, CALLED, PROPHET, MAN/WOMAN OF GOD, DEACON, APOSTLE, PRIEST, FATHER, ETC.) WHICH THEY OVERLY EMPHASIZE TO ENDORSE THEIR SUPPOSED "RIGHT" TO OBJECTIFY AND DEHUMANIZE THEIR TARGETS, STRIPPING THEM OF ANY HEALTHY BOUNDARIES: MICROMANAGING LIVES, BEING INVASIVE AND DISRESPECTFUL, BULLYING, STALKING, ORCHESTRATING SMEAR CAMPAIGNS, AND SO ON.

3) REGARDLESS OF HOW MUCH "ALTRUISTIC" THEY SEEM TO BE IN PUBLIC, NARCISSISTIC "PASTORS" ARE DRIVEN BY THEIR SELFISH AMBITION AND SELF IDOLATRY. THESE MOTIVES DIRECTLY CLASH WITH THE INTEGRITY, CHARACTER AND OBEDIENCE REQUIRED TO BE A TRUE SERVANT OF GOD. 

⓶ ABUSIVE "PASTORS" DO NOT HAVE THE 'FEAR OF THE LORD' AND DARE TO "PREACH" THEIR OWN "FRANKESTEIN OF THE SCRIPTURE", WHICH IS MOSTLY USED TO MANIPULATE AND CONTROL PEOPLE. THEREFORE, LEGITIMATE DOUBTS ARE OFTEN REPROACHED, DISMISSED AND EVEN MOCKED, INSTEAD OF BEING HONESTLY ADDRESSED.

*IF A PASTOR DOESN'T KNOW AN ANSWER - WHICH IS PERFECTLY OK - HE/SHE SHOULD SIMPLY SAY SO. PERHAPS SOME RESEARCH ON THE TOPIC AT MATTER CAN BE DONE LATER. AFTER ALL, NO PASTOR HAS THE OBLIGATION TO 'KNOW ALL THE ANSWERS', SINCE MANY OF THEM BELONG ONLY TO GOD;

⓷ IT'S PRACTICALLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR A NARCISSISTIC "PASTOR" TO MANIFEST TRUE LOVE SINCE IT REQUIRES THE ABILITY TO STEP OUT OF ONE'S PERSONAL EGO AND PLACE ONESELF IN ANOTHER PERSON'S SHOES. EGOTISTICAL "PASTORS" CANNOT DO SO.  

③Instilling petty rivalries among pastors, churches and denominations is not scriptural. 
The abusive "pastor" is always pitting people and institutions against each other. Obviously, in his mind, only those who comply to his whims and interests are on the "right side". 

④Abusive "pastor" constantly contradicts himself (1)
⑤"Pastor" does not really support the pastors who want to leave the "church".
The abusive "pastor" claimed - in words - that he was "supportive" towards the pastors who wanted to leave the "church", by even "offering" the chairs for them to set out a new church of their own. However, the tone of voice and facial expressions reveal that he is quite annoyed by the fact. Worse than that, for some "strange coincidence", ALL the pastors who leave seem to fail in their "out-of-the-abusive-church" life and they "HAVE TO come back begging for forgiveness and another chance", for the great satisfaction of the abusive "pastor", according to his smirk. Isn't that too much of a "bad coincidence"?  

➤ EVEN THOUGH NARCISSISTIC "PASTORS" ARE MASTERS OF MANIPULATION, SINCE THEY HAVE A HARD TIME TELLING THE TRUTH, THEY INVARIABLY CONTRADICT THEMSELVES ALONG THE WAY (A.K.A. DISTORT THE FACTS OR TELL OUTRIGHT LIES) AND ARE VERY INCONSISTENT IN WHAT THEY SAY AND DO (A.K.A. THEY ARE HYPOCRITES).

⑥"Pastor" feels entitled to micromanage "his people-possessions".

➤ NARCISSISTIC "PASTORS" BELIEVE THEY ARE ENTITLED TO MICROMANAGE EVERY ASPECT OF THE LIVES THEY TARGET OR ARE UNDER THEIR POWER/AUTHORITY: OBJECTIFICATION/ DEHUMANIZATION OF PEOPLE. 


⑦"God" is not the "pastor's" personal henchman.

➤ GOD IS NOBODY'S PERSONAL HENCHMAN. EVEN THOUGH NARCISSISTIC "PASTORS" MAY THINK OTHERWISE, GOD DOES NOT DO THEIR "DIRTY JOB" FOR THEM. God does not go around threatening, cursing and destroying people's lives simply because some narcissistic "pastor" wants Him to. Whatever "power" that threats, curses and destroys people's lives does not come from God. GOD IS THE GOD OF FREE WILL ever since Adam and Eve. Obviously, it does not mean that there won't be consequences according to each one's choices, but GOD DOES NOT CONTROL, INTIMIDATE, COERCE OR MANIPULATE PEOPLE. Or else, everybody would be doing what God wanted them to do. We-know-who loves to control everything and everybody.


⑧In the "pastor's" delusional mind, God's will and his personal interests are interchangeable. 

➤ IN THE NARCISSISTIC PASTORS' MIND, THEIR OWN PERSONAL INTERESTS AND WHIMS ARE INTERCHANGEABLE WITH "GOD'S WILL". IT'S AN UNDERSTATEMENT THAT NARCISSISTIC "PASTORS" HAVE A COVERT - AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE - SENSE OF GRANDIOSE AND ENTITLEMENT. Under the overly exploited "titles" of "prophets, anointed, chosen, called, gifted, man/woman of god etc", the abusive "pastors" reign indiscriminately in their little or big kingdoms of "wanna-be-gods". By exploiting such "titles", they can also manipulate a multitude by COVERTLY/SUBLIMINALLY selling the pitch: "I do what god wants me to do and god does what I want him to do". ANOTHER CLEAR EVIDENCE THAT HERESIES AND BLASPHEMIES ARE NOT BIG ISSUES FOR NARCISSISTIC "PASTORS". 

⑨The abusive "pastor" constantly contradicts himself (2)
The abusive "pastor" had actually bought the vast properties that the reporter talked about, as it was later confimed by the administration of the "church". Even knowing that the information was true all along, the narcissistic "pastor" denied it - a.k.a lied - in public and went through the trouble of threatening the ones who had exposed him by saying that they would "feel the heavy hand of (his) god in their lives". Again, reinforcing his delusions and blasphemies that "god" is his personal  henchman and "god" would side with him to protect his lies. 

⑩Using bits and pieces of the scripture to manipulate and control people.
If we think about the overall context of Psalm 78:23-24 used in the "church campaign", for example, it's actually about the importance of being faithful, grateful and obedient to the Lord, with examples of how much the Lord has done for the israelites and how the latter turned out to be unfaithful, ungrateful and disobedient, therefore, being rejected by God. In other words, it has absolutely nothing to do with a supposedly "anoited" overpriced trinket made of scrap metal. Not to mention that relying on random objects/charms for "blessings" is the same principle that rules all the pagan religions in the world. The death of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross allowed us to have free access to Him and His blessings. Notice that for each "testimony" -  whether based on true or false miracles, there were plenty of other people who got nothing but an overpriced trifle. 

➤ NARCISSISTIC "PASTORS" DON'T PREACH THE TRUTH OF THE SCRIPTURE, BUT A "FRANKESTEIN MADE OF BITS AND PIECES OF THE SCRIPTURE" IN ORDER TO MANIPULATE AND CONTROL PEOPLE. CAREFULLY SELECTED EXCERPTS OF THE "BIBLE" ARE USED COMPLETELY OUT OF THEIR ORIGINAL CONTEXT AND MEANING IN ORDER TO "LEGITIMIZE" AND IMPOSE THE DELUSIONS, CAPRICES AND PERSONAL AGENDA OF THE NARCISSISTIC "PASTORS". HERESIES AND BLASPHEMIES ARE NEVER AN ISSUE FOR AN ABUSIVE "PASTOR". 


⑪Deceitful "preaching". According to the abusive "pastor", lack of willingness to pay $300 for a supposed "anointed" pair of socks has many "tragic consequences": ❶ The person will "open the door to the devil" through the "spirit of greed". No "christian" would ever want to "take such risk", right? It's pure religious mumbo jumbo used to manipulate people and it's obviously non-scriptural. ❷ Something really bad "sent by god" may happen to those who do not buy the pair of socks, according to the "pastor's" glare and threatening tone of voice, while saying that "god knows what people have in their hearts". It's not quite clear what will happen, but the never-ending narratives of the "cursed enemies" - added by the fact that "god" is his personal henchman in his delusional mind -  has a powerful appeal to compel people to believe in whatever threat. It's true that God knows what we have in our hearts, but it's also true that God is definitely not taking part in the schemes of the narcissistic "pastor" who covertly extorts money from the believers by using His name. ❸ In a very cunning way, the abusive "pastor" is insinuating that the person who does not buy their pair of socks is not a "true christian": because buying the overpriced pair of socks would be a form of "putting their faith into action". This is a total misquote of James 2:17, completely out of its true meaning. It's important to observe the overall context of the "service": the true miraculous healings that can actually take place even in an abusive "church" - by the infinite mercy of God; how desperate people are; the affected testimonies of true and false miracles and the emotional and visual appeal throughout the "service". If we consider all of that, the covert extortion of $300/$150, may end up being a chance to get "god's lottery ticket" - in accordance with the deceitful "preaching". Such contradictory feelings reinforce the state of cognitive dissonance that prevails among the abusive "church" members. 


➤ BY USING LOTS OF RELIGIOUS MUMBO JUMBO AND CALCULATED BITS AND PIECES OF THE "BIBLE", THE NARCISSISITIC "PASTORS" DARE TO "PREACH" TOTALLY HERETIC FALSE NARRATIVES. THIS IS ONE OF THE KEY ELEMENTS TO MANIPULATE AND CONTROL PEOPLE IN ABUSIVE "CHURCHES": CONDITIONING MEMBERS TO BELIEVE IN SOME "REMOTE CONTROLLED FRANKESTEIN OF THE BIBLE" - INSTEAD OF THE TRUTH OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND THE SCRIPTURE. 

➤ ALL NARCISSISTIC "PASTORS" ARE INVARIABLY "SIN-FULL": THEY CAN MAKE UP "SINS" - AND "RULES TO PREVENT/FIX THEM" - MUCH FASTER THAN ANYONE CAN POSSIBLY IMAGINE "COMMITTING" ANY OF THEM, IN THE MOST RIDICULOUS CONTEXTS AND STATEMENTS EVER. Next thing you know, decent people are having second, third, fourth and even fifth thoughts on whether they should go to the beach in mid-summer wearing a swimsuit or sweat pants because they don't want to be "sin-full", as it was "preached" by some abusive "pastor". "SIN-FULL PASTORS" ARE SIMPLY OBSESSED WITH THE WORD "SIN" AND "POINTING FINGERS", IT WOULD BE PATHETIC IF IT WERE NOT HERETIC, HYPOCRITICAL AND TRAGIC. BY USING "RELIGIOUS LANGUAGE" AND CALCULATED PASSAGES OF THE "BIBLE", THEY CAN MAKE WHATEVER MANUFACTURED "SIN" THAT COMES STRAIGHT OUT OF THEIR OWN MINDS SOUNDS TERRIFYING. THE ULTIMATE RESULT IS INSTILLING GUILT AND PLACING A HEAVY - AND INEXISTENT - BURDEN ON PEOPLE'S SHOULDERS. "GUILTY BELIEVERS" OFTEN HAVE THIS "URGE TO ATONE THEMSELVES", AND THE SUGGESTED WAY TO DO SO BY THE NARCISSISTIC "PASTORS" IS TO GIVE MONEY TO THE ABUSIVE "CHURCH" -  WITHIN A WELL-CRAFTED NARRATIVE, OF COURSE. IN OTHER WORDS, THE MORE "GUILTY BELIEVERS", THE MORE THE "NEED TO ATONE THEMSELVES", AND THEREFORE, THE MORE MONEY GIVEN TO "CLEAN THEMSELVES". IT'S AN ABOMINATION WHICH TOTALLY DISTORTS THE SCRIPTURE AND COMPLETELY NULLIFIES THE SACRIFICE OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST ON THE CROSS. "SIN-FULL PASTORS" ARE THE ULTIMATE HERETIC AND BLASPHEMOUS INDIVIDUALS INFILTRATED IN THE REAL CHURCH OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.  

⓵ I WOULD LIKE TO EMPHASIZE THAT FINANCIALLY SUPPORTING DECENT CHURCHES/MINISTRIES IS NOT THE PROBLEM AT ALL. AS WE CAN SEE, THE PROBLEM IS EXPLOITING THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, THE SCRIPTURE AND EVEN SOME RANDOM "FRANKESTEIN MADE OF BITS AND PIECES OF THE BIBLE" TO COVERTLY EXTORT MONEY FROM TRUSTING BELIEVERS. THIS IS PURE HERESY AND BLASPHEMY.

⓶ BY CONSTANTLY BOMBARDING PEOPLE WITH FICTITIOUS "SINS" AND MADE UP RULES, NARCISSISTIC "PASTORS" FREQUENTLY DO NOTHING BUT PROJECT THEIR OWN PERSONAL CORRUPT CHARACTER ON TRUSTING BELIEVERS. DEPENDING ON THE WAY AND THE FREQUENCY OF HOW IT'S DONE, THE PSYCHOLOGICAL AND EMOTIONAL IMPACT CAN BE DEVASTATING IN THE LONG RUN. VICTIMS CAN BE PLAGUED BY DEPRESSION, SYMPTOMS RELATED TO CHRONIC ANXIETY, INTRUSIVE THOUGHTS⒈⒉, OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER AND SYMPTOMS OF GASLIGHTING. 

➥ ALL THE STRATEGIES OF DECEITFUL "PREACHING" ABOVE CAN BE COMBINED WITH THE 'WORD SALAD TACTIC' TO TARGET SPECIFIC INDIVIDUALS OR A PARTICULAR GROUP IN THE ABUSIVE "CHURCH".

⑫The abusive "pastor" constantly contradicts himself (3).
The abusive "pastor" publicly "dooms" anyone who exposes him by misuing the word "god" ("enemies" would feel "the heavy hand of his god in their lives"). Not only is he blasphemous, but he is also a malicious liar who is publicly threatening and discrediting people who were just telling absolute truths about him. His questionable character is also revealed when he puts the tragic death of the reporter who denounced him on "god's" account ("god's work"), and later, being criticized by the public opinion, he decided that it was "the devil's work". Lack of consistency is an understatement.

⑬The abusive "pastor" constantly contradicts himself (4).
The abusive "pastor" claims that he used to be "persecuted, harassed and abused" in the previous church he used to work at, and it would be the main reason why he left it. However, now that he is the "leader", he is doing exactly the same things: persecuting, harassing and abusing the pastors who want to leave or who are displeased with the warped ways he conducts the abusive "church". 

⑭Instilling dependency solely on the "pastors" for access to the scripture.
Indeed, no 'bible study' can guarantee proper instruction of the Scripture. It would require the mediation of a Bible teacher with the Holy Spirit, solid knowledge of the Scripture, character and integrity. However, discouraging group or self-study of the Bible and fostering total dependance on the "pastors" of the abusive "church" is definitely worse. Notice that stimulating dependance allows the abusive "pastors" to pitch their own corrupted version of the scripture - their "remote controlled Frankestein of the bible", without anyone being able to question them due to lack of knowledge of the true Scripture. 

⑮The abusive "pastor" constantly contradicts himself (5). 
⑯Approval of "self-idolatry" by the "pastor".
Even though the narcissistic "pastor" is preaching that "idolatry is wrong": ❶ The abusive "pastor" clearly doesn't mind the idolatry of his own image - ironically "humbly praying on his knees" - portrayed on a 40 feet poster hanged on the "church" wall. ❷ By allowing - therefore fostering - the use of the expression "god of the pastor", he is clearly "taking a ride" on God's glory and elevating himself, which does not make him a "god", but a "closer-to-god-than-any-human-being" figure, which promotes this lure around him. 

➤ NARCISSISTIC "PASTORS" DON'T NECESSARILY TAKE GOD'S GLORY - IT WOULD BE TOO OBVIOUSLY WRONG, BUT THEY NEVER MISS A CHANCE TO "TAKE A RIDE" ON GOD'S GLORY AND - COVERTLY - EXALT THEMSELVES ALONG THE WAY. THIS KIND OF HIDDEN ADVERTISEMENT CREATES THIS "I-AM-THE-CLOSEST-TO-GOD-THAN-ANY-HUMAN-BEING" IMAGE AROUND THE ABUSIVE "PASTOR", AND THE CROWD BUYS IT.   

⑰"Faith" is something that "has to be proved", especially through money to the abusive "church".
In this case, a person is considered to be "faithful to god" by having the guts to buy ONE pair of supposedly "anointed" pair of socks for $300. If a person is "not so faithful" he/she can "get away with only" $150 each pair. Bear in mind that the pair of socks is not worth more than $3. In short, even with the "not-so-faithful-ones", the abusive "pastor" still has an astronomic profit. In the same way, according to the abusive leader, "successful and faithful pastors" are the ones who can bring "profit" to the abusive "church", no matter how. The abusive "pastor" sets the example by showing that outright heresies, blasphemies, lies, lack of moral, ethics and scrupulous are more than welcome if it comes to baiting the believers. 

➤ IN ABUSIVE "CHURCHES", FAITH IS SOMETHING THAT "HAS TO BE PROVED" THROUGH MONEY AND RIGHTEOUSNESS IS SOMETHING "TO BE ACHIVED" THROUGH MONEY. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THESE STATEMENTS ARE DEFINITELY NON-SCRIPTURAL, AND THEREFORE, TOTAL HERESIES. Notice that according to this warped mentality, a "christian criminal" can be "faithful" and "righteous" by giving a lot of money to a corrupt "church", no matter how the individual got the money, at what cost and how putrid his/her character and morals are. Unfortunately, this is the sad reality of many "churches" owned by narcissistic "pastors".  


⑱The abusive "pastor" constantly contradicts himself (6). 
The abusive "pastor" spent the whole "service" cursing, threatening and dooming his "enemies" - a.k.a. people telling inconvenient truths, but in the end, he decided that he was going to "pray" for his "enemies". Not even the "prayer" of the abusive "pastor" comes out of the purity of his heart, as the "prayer" is intended to get the upper hand over the "enemies", by discrediting and accusing them of having the spirits of "madness, envy and greed". Yes, I know, it doesn't get any more ironic and hypocritical than that. The abusive "pastor" projects his filth on the targets. 


WHAT WAS SUBLIMINAL ("IN BETWEEN THE LINES")

①Affected emotions are the core of the "service".
This is a very serious and overlooked form of covert manipulation. We can think about drama or adventure movies. The critical sense is not totally "off", but the tendence is for the audience to get carried away by the emotions provoked by the characters and the plot. In that sense, there are some movies that exploit precisely the perpective of the villains in such a "captivating way" that the audience ends up feeling sorry for or even siding with them. On the other hand, in order to grasp the details and analyze the movies more carefully, a second time - or even a third - is required as the emotive impact lessens. In the same way, a "live service" that focus predominantly on provoking, feeding and drawing emotions and feelings out of people is a tremendous red flag - it's actually a red billboard - for any true committed Christian. In these environments, the tendence is for the crowd to "just go with the flow" in a roller coaster of emotions, orchestrated by the abusive "pastor", who coordinates the "church" band, the histrionic testimonies and the crowd itself. Although the abusive "pastor" may not necessarily have total control over the testimonies and the crowd, it's important to notice that certain patterns of behavior and attitude are constantly overstimulated and promoted (crying, thanking, laughing, being affected, hugging, being aggressive towards the supposed "enemies", etc), and therefore replicated as a "standard procedure". The constant repetition of such patterns conditions people to accept them as "normal" and even "necessary" to the "church".

➤ NARCISSISTIC "PASTORS" BOMBARD THE CROWD WITH ALL KINDS OF EMOTIONS AND FEELINGS. IN A "SERVICE", PEOPLE CAN FEEL THANKFUL, HUMILIATED, ELATED, SAD, HOPEFUL, SCARED, ENTERTAINED, THREATENED, EMBRACED, HATED AND SO ON. ALL THIS ROLLER COASTER OF EMOTIONS LEAVE PEOPLE DISORIENTED AND UNCONSCIOUSLY BEWILDERED (IN A STATE OF COGNITIVE DISSONANCE), RENDERING THEM PSYCHOLOGICALLY AND EMOTIONALLY VULNERABLE TO MANIPULATIVE TACTICS AND CONTROL BY THE ABUSIVE "PASTORS". 


②Intimidatory messages are secretly and frequently introduced in the "service".

➤ IT'S AN UNDERSTATEMENT THAT NARCISSISTIC "PASTORS" ARE PROUD, ARROGANT AND CONTROLLING, BUT THESE TRAITS ARE NOT OFFICIALLY WELCOME IN A "CHURCH" SETTING. HOWEVER, AS MASTERS OF MANIPULATION, ABUSIVE "PASTORS" CAN ALWAYS FIND WAYS TO COVERTLY/PASSIVE-AGGRESSIVELY/SUBLIMINALLY SEND MESSAGES OF INTIMIDATION, COERCION, MANIPULATION, HATRED, RIVALRY, DISSENTION AND FEAR TOWARDS ANYONE WHO DOES NOT COMPLY TO THEIR WHIMS, DISTORTIONS OF THE SCRIPTURE, "MAKE-BELIEVE BUBBLE" AND OUTRIGHT LIES. NO WONDER, EVERYONE IN AN ABUSIVE "CHURCH" SUFFERS FROM SOME DEGREE OF 'COGNITIVE DISSONANCE', AN UNCONSCIOUS NAGGING FEELING THAT "THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG", ALTHOUGH THEY CAN'T PUT A FINGER ON IT, LEADING TO FEELINGS OF CONFUSION, UNEASINESS AND ANXIETY, WHICH ARE CONSTANTLY LURKING AROUND. THERE ARE MANY RESOURCES USED BY NARCISSISTIC "PASTORS" IN THE PROCESS: CALCULATED BITS AND PIECES OF THE "BIBLE", "HYMNS", "RELIGIOUS LANGUAGE", BODY GESTURES, FACIAL EXPRESSIONS, ATTITUDES, IMAGES, MODULATION OF THE TONE OF VOICE, THE "CHURCH" FLYING MONKEYS AS WELL AS "DRAMATIC/TRAGIC NARRATIVES" CONCERNING THE "UNFORTUNATE FATE" OF THE "REBELLIOUS PASTORS", "ENEMIES" AND ANYONE WHO IN THE MIND OF THE NARCISSISTIC "PASTOR" IS OPPOSING HIM AND HIS "MINISTRY" IN ANY WAY WHATSOEVER - EVEN IF IT'S JUST BY TELLING INCONVENIENT TRUTHS OR SEEKING JUSTICE FOR THE VICTIMS. 


③"Pastor dooms the enemies". 
No "enemy" seems to escape from their "tragic ending" determined by the narcissistic "pastor", who believes that "god" is his personal henchman, and he boasts about it whenever he can. The abusive "pastor" has no boundaries and can go to great lengths to make sure the pretense "enemies" 'pay the price' for exposing his warped conduct or attempting to do so. Quite often, he puts on "god's account" as in "god's curse" - since blasphemy is not an issue for an abusive "pastor" - or the "devil's" as in "the devil's attack". As long as it drives the public attention from himself and the fact that somehow he always manages to "make curses happen" to his targets - due to his political and financial power, added by the army of church flying monkeys -, every heresy, blasphemy, lie, slander or false accusation counts. 

④ "Pastor" gets the upper hand over the pretense "enemies" by discrediting them in advance (1). 
Knowing that the scandal involving the properties had already begun to spread, the abusive "pastor" makes his first move by discrediting the people who were denouncing him/his "church", accusing them of being "envious", even knowing that the information was actually true all along. The problem was not so much the fact that he had the property, but the fact that he had to lie about having it. If he was not doing anything "wrong", why lie about it? Not only does he blatantly lie, but he also performs a whole scene in front of the cameras, in which he is being "falsely accused", and dares to blaspheme by using "god" as his "personal henchman" to threat his "enemies", quite confident about it. After all, the narcissistic "pastor" - "somehow" - always succeeds in "making ALL of his curses happen". 

➤ NARCISSISTIC "PASTORS" ALWAYS MAKE SURE TO HAVE THE UPPER HAND OVER THEIR "ENEMIES" (A.K.A. EVERYBODY WHO IN THEIR DELUSIONAL MINDS DISPLEASE THEM IN ANY WAY). IN ORDER TO DAMAGE CONTROL ANY POSSIBLE SETBACKS DUE TO THE EXPOSURE OF INCONVENIENT TRUTHS, ABUSES AND SCANDALS, THE ABUSIVE "PASTORS":

➤ ABUSIVE "PASTORS" CONSTANTLY EXPLOIT THE "US VERSUS THE ENEMIES" MENTALITY. THIS IS ONE OF THE OLDEST MANIPULATIVE STRATEGIES EVER. BY FABRICATING AN ELABORATED NARRATIVE IN WHICH THERE IS A "COMMON ENEMY", ANY "LEADER" CAN MAKE PEOPLE OVERLOOK THEIR DIFFERENCES AND "UNITE ON BEHALF OF A BIGGER CAUSE". NOTICE THAT: 

⓵ THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE "ENEMIES" ARE SIMPLY PEOPLE WHO ARE EXPOSING INCONVENIENT TRUTHS ABOUT THE ABUSIVE "PASTOR" AND HIS CORRUPTED "CHURCH". 

⓶ "GOD" IS IN THE "US" GROUP, WHICH GIVES "HOLY LEGITIMATION" FOR THE ABUSIVE "PASTOR" IN HIS "CAMPAIGN AGAINST THE ENEMIES" (A.K.A. FREE PASS TO DO WHATEVER HE WANTS WITH THE "ENEMIES" AND TOTAL SUPPORT FROM THE CHURCH FLYING MONKEYS AND THE CROWD). 

⓷ THE NARCISSISTIC "PASTOR" CAN ALWAYS GET TO "PLAY THE VICTIM" AND MANIPULATE THE CROWD TO SIDE WITH HIM/HER.

⑥Since the "pastor" frequently takes a ride on God's glory and is constantly exalting himself and his "church" - discreetly, the crowd buys the pitch "let's idolize the pastor". 
As we have presented in ⑯ Approval of "self-idolatry" by the "pastor", the narcissistic "pastor" is always finding a way to promote his image, making sure to emphasize that "god" practically works for him and does whatever he wants "him" to. Aside from the miraculous healings, by the grace of God, the rest is just result of political and financial power, but that's enough to create a "mystical, holy, sacred, divine" aura surrounding his image, and the crowd buys it. 

⑦Members of the "church" are in a state of cognitive dissonance. 

➤ ONE OF THE MOST DANGEROUS ASPECTS OF AN ABUSIVE "CHURCH" RULED BY A NARCISSISTIC "PASTOR" IS THAT EVERYONE SUFFERS FROM SOME DEGREE OF COGNITIVE DISSONANCE. In other words, when people are subjected to diametrical opposite concepts and experiences for a prolonged period of time in a covert/passive-aggressive/subliminal manner, they tend to (un)consciously suppress certain facts on behalf of core beliefs, in order to sort out the state of mind confusion that such contradictions create. SUCH STATE OF COGNITIVE DISSONANCE IN CASES OF ABUSE IN THE "CHURCH" ALMOST ALWAYS RESULTS IN THE DISBELIEF THAT A "PASTOR" COULD BE SO SPIRITUALLY AND MORALLY CORRUPT, AND SWEEPING THE NAGGING FEELING AND THE FACT THAT THERE'S SOMETHING REALLY WRONG UNDER THE CARPET, FOCUSING ONLY ON THE "GOOD" THAT THE ABUSIVE "PASTOR" APPARENTLY SEEMS TO PROVIDE TO THE COMMUNITY. The problem is that since it tends to be a very personal and mostly an unconscious experience, the ones going through cognitive dissonance quite often do so in silence and are unaware of the source of the profound discomfort, confusion and anxiety that they are feeling. Cognitive dissonance is always present in cases involving domestic violence, for example. 

➥COGNITIVE DISSONANCE IN A LARGE SCALE, MEANING GREAT CROWDS BEING UNAWARE THAT THEY ARE BEING PSYCHOLOGICALLY AND EMOTIONALLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO MANIPULATION IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND CAN LEAD TO DEPLORABLE CONSEQUENCES: 

⓵ THE WIDESPREAD OF DISTORTED AND FALSE "TEACHINGS" OF THE SCRIPTURE (HERESIES). 

⓶ THE WIDESPREAD OF THE ABUSE AND MISUSE OF THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND GOD IN COMPLETLY DEFILED CONTEXTS (BLASPHEMIES).


⓷ ABUSIVE "PASTORS" CAN INSTIGATE AND MANIPULATE THE CHURCH FLYING MONKEYS AND THE CROWD TO ACT UPON DEVIOUS AND EVEN CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR AGAINST SPECIFIC TARGETS: SLANDERING, COERCING, INTIMIDATING, BULLYING, STALKING, HARASSING, THREATENING, POSSIBLY LEADING VICTIMS TO HAVE SUICIDAL IDEATIONS AND TO ACTUALLY COMMIT SUICIDE.

⓹ ABUSIVE "CHURCHES" WHICH ARE PESTERED BY COGNITIVE DISSONANCE USUALLY DIVERT THE ATTENTION FROM THE DISORDERED "PASTORS" AND GIVE APPALING EXCUSES FOR THEIR ABOMINABLE BEHAVIOR BY MINIMIZING AND INVALIDATING THE ABUSES AND SAYING THINGS SUCH AS "NOBODY IS PERFECT" OR "NO CHURCH IS PERFECT". IT'S IMPORTANT TO BEAR IN MIND THAT IT'S NOT A MATTER OF "PASTOR 'A' WAS FOUND SMOKING IN THE PARK" OR "CHURCH BOARD HAD A DISAGREEMENT" KIND OF "IMPERFECTION". THIS IS ABOUT SERIOUSLY DISORDERD INDIVIDUALS WHO MAY LOOK LIKE "PASTORS", BUT ARE CAPABLE OF DOING WHATEVER IT TAKES TO MANIPULATE AND CONTROL PEOPLE FOR THEIR SELFISH AMBITIONS AND INTERESTS, EVEN IF IT MEANS CAUSING HARM (VERBALLY, PSYCHOLOGICALLY, EMOTIONALLY AND PHYSICALLY) TO ANYONE WHO "DOES NOT COMPLY" AND "DARES TO OPPOSE THEM", EITHER BY TELLING THE TRUTH OR SEEKING JUSTICE FOR THE VICTIMS.

⓺ A SEVERE STATE OF 'MASS COGNITIVE DISSONANCE' IN ABUSIVE "CHURCHES" IS WHAT LED MANY VICTIMS OF ABUSE -  INCLUDING CHILDREN VICTIMS OF PEDOPHILES - TO BE ISOLATED, SHAMED AND EVEN BLAMED FOR TRYING TO GET ANY JUSTICE WHATSOEVER.

⑧"Pastor" gets the upper hand over the pretense "enemies" by discrediting them in advance (2).
Completely out of the context, the abusive "pastor" doesn't miss the chance to counterargue his pretense "enemies" for past scandals in which he had covertly extorted money from believers, to the point of having them sell their belongings and even properties to give more money to the abusive "church". By raising the tone of voice - thus using non-verbal language to intimidate, he questions the man: "Did you have to sell your house? Did you have to sell  your belongings to participate in the "church" campaign?". The obvious response under such circumstances couldn't possibly be different: "No, pastor...".

⑨"Pastor" gets the upper hand over the pretense "enemies" by discrediting them in advance (3).
Again, in a complete decontextualized scenario, the abusive "pastor" brings up the subject of the "enemies" and creates another "dramatic scene". This time inciting the crowd to side with him and automatically oppose the pretense "enemies", who never said a word about discrediting the miraculous healings that took place in the abusive "church" - by the infinite mercy of God. Notice that the abusive "pastor" invariably plays the role of the "victim" and the crowd takes the bait. 

⑩Peer pressure.

➤THERE ARE PLENTY OF STUDIES NOW THAT CONFIRM THE POWER OF PEER PRESSURE, ESPECIALLY IN LARGE GROUPS. NARCISSISTIC "PASTORS" EXPLOIT IT TO THE FULL, ESPECIALLY BY FLOODING PEOPLE WITH EMOTIONAL APPEALS.  

⑪"Pastor" gets the upper hand over the pretense "enemies" by discrediting them in advance (4). 
Another example of the cunning strategy of falsely accusing/ slandering the pretense "enemies" in anticipation happens during the "prayer" (!). Yes, not even the "prayer" comes form a place of purity in the mind of the abusive "pastor". While supposedly "praying for his enemies", the abusive "pastor" is also making sure that he is stripping any kind of credibility from his "enemies", by accusing them of having "the spirit of madness, the spirit of envy and the spirit of greed". Yes, it doesn't get any more hypocritical and ironic than that. It's certainly a crafty way of nullifying the validity of whatever the "enemies" may say about him and his "church" in the present or in the future.
